What It Is

Liner leak detection is how we locate pinholes, tears, and failed seams in the vinyl itself — as opposed to a leak in the underground plumbing (that's what a pressure test checks). It combines an electronic liner leak detector with hands-on visual and tactile inspection of the liner's common trouble spots and confirmation with leak-finder dye.

How We Do It

We start with an electronic leak detector, which puts a small charge into the water; because the vinyl liner is an insulator, that current can only escape through a hole to reach ground, so a concentration of current marks a leak. We flag each spot with a wax pencil, scan the whole liner so nothing is missed, then go back and feel each marked area by hand to rule out something larger — like termite damage, which can leave hundreds of tiny holes and is repaired differently. We confirm every marked spot with a dye test — releasing leak-finder dye right at it and watching it get drawn straight into the hole.
